My Own Climate Change

We Believe

When kids and adults better understand how Climate Change will affect them personally, when they “Think Global and Think Local”, then they will take actions to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, and they will prepare for the effects of Climate Change.

At My Own Climate Change, we help kids and adults better understand how Climate Change will affect them personally and educate about the actions they can take to prevent it and mitigate its damage.

Think Global And Think Local

Climate Change isn’t just somebody else’s problem, it’s ours too.  Everyone thinks Climate Change is a global problem, something that terrible is happening somewhere elsewhere on the planet.  But it’s really a local problem increasingly impacting our neighborhoods, cities, counties, states, countries, and the world.

At My Own Climate Change, we believe it would make a difference if more people thought about what Climate Change will do to: their animals and plants in their backyard; their water and energy bills; their grocery store produce; their insurance; their personal safety from storms or population displacement – to their community.

If people understand what Climate Change will do to them personally, if they “Think Global and Think Local”, then they will be willing to take actions to reduce non-renewable energy use and greenhouse gasses, and also find ways to reduce the effects of Climate Change.

Values

  • We know that kids will have to live with the effects of the Climate Change damage that is happening today.
  • We believe that if kids have the tools and information, then they can understand the issues, research and brainstorm solutions, and advocate for their future.
  • We believe that kids have a powerful voice and can protect their future.
  • We believe that kids can make their future more secure by taking actions, and encouraging others to do so as well, to help reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions.
  • We believe that kids and adults can work together to plan for the effects of Climate Change (in areas such as infrastructure, energy, food security, environment, endangered species) so that we are better prepared to face our changing climate.
  • We believe that kids will advocate for their own future and so that future will be more secure.
